Gelicious - Devine Vines Skittles

Of course I ordered the new Gelicious colours; Devine Vines and Surfing in Straddie.

For ages now I haven't done anything exciting with my mani, just the straight colour. My faux daughter had some nice gel nails done recently in black, silver and grey skittles and I thought I would give it a go using my Gelicious colours.  I mean I have enough of them to make it work.

I went with Devine Vines (dark green) for the main colour.  My middle fingers got Pastachio Parfait (light green). My index fingers got Sympathy Hook Up (grey) as a base colour and After Glow (silver) over that.

TUTORIAL

File edges and then clean off nails using Isocol.

Start with your worst side.  I paint my right hand first because when I first start out I am more patient, and by the time I'm onto my left hand I start to rush and and need the skill of my writing (right) hand.

Paint one coat of Gelicious Peel-off Gel Base and Top Coat.  Set for 30 seconds.  I paint my thumb seperately after I have finished with the rest.

Paint one coat of each colour on your fingers. 

My nails are now ready to go in the 'oven' to bake. These are all the 30 sec formula.

Repeat this again for each nail.  I find that two coats usually does the trick.  No one ever looks that closely to my nails to check if they are totally perfect and opaque.

I give my index finger one nice coat of After Glow.  I find that the grey underneath really helps with colour otherwise I need three or more coats.

Cook that single nail.

Put a top coat of the Peel-off Gel and set.

Clean off tacky residue with Isocol.  

Repeat for other hands.

Repeat for each thumb using Divine Vines.  I do them each seperately because I often find that I scrape the polish while I concentrating on my finger nails, or if I'm swapping from one thumb to the other.  It only takes about 10

Minutes more overall and you get a better stress free result.  Plus my light doesn't fit all my hand in there - flat.

Gelicious - Dip in the Pool

Long time no manicure!  And my nails are really terrible at the moment, I got a little stressed and chewed.

With my hair all turquoise my nails have also turned a little blue too.  There isn't many blue and green colours in Gelicious's range - they need to release a jade green and a true turquoise. 

I used 3 coats of 'Dip in the Pool' and the peel-off base and top coat. It is pretty and glittery.

It doesn't quite match my hair.

Gelicious - Lady Lauren & Peel off

I really wanted to try out the peel-off gel and I thought I would try it with the one polish I have been dreading to use.

Lady Lauren is a glitter and since I struggle to remove normal Gelicious polish I really didn't want to,,, well,,, you know try and get rid of the GLITTER!

I don't know if it was the peel-off or LL but I made a hash of this mani.  The glitter pooled along the sides even as I was zapping them in the light.

Once I finished I attacked most of the edges with a file because it was so uncomfortable.  The worst is my thumb.

Anywhooo I'll see how it goes.

Alrighty - the results!

7 days in 2 nails lost their gel - both had thick ridges of gel down the side so I wasn't surprised.

Finally after 15 days I had had enough chipping from one nail - and I had stained the polish with hair dye - to remove it all.  My regrowth was also long.

Here you can see the already peeled polish, the chipped nail and my regrowth.

So I soaked. And the I peeled back a little and kept repeating. But unfortunately that gel must have set pretty hard over the fortnight.

I also couldn't spend much longer than because I needed to get to an appointment.  So I did start to stratch off when it started taking too long.

I wish I had more time to do it properly because I ended up damaging the top layer of my nails.  They have all since buffed out, except for a thumb nail, but I was pretty angry at myself.

So things I have learnt -

After a long shower or hair washing you may get a little lifting - leave it alone to dry and reset.

Thick edges that touch skin peel away easily 

It will last a fortnight 

It will take a long time to remove the polish if it has stayed in you nails for so long.

Verdict -

I will probably never use the other Gelicious clear coats again. Peel off for the win.

Gelicious - Can We Still be Friends?

I'm loving this new colour!  This is three coats but this would look lovely over other colours. I'd want to try this over a dark blue - it would look all nebula and spacey.

Really pretty.

All shiny and sparkly - way to hard for me to photograph apparently.

I would live Gelicious to create a few more glittery polishes to play with layering.

Gelicious - Relationship Status Update

I bought the new colours from Gelicious as well as the Ultra Matte Top Coat.

I'm really liking these nudes, I thought they might be very similar after I opened up my shipping box. As you see the labels are similar in colour - the polish actually isn't.

I went with Relationship Status Update first off.  It's a mauve gray, two coats.  Someone at work asked me where I had bought it so it must look nice!

Nice consistency to paint with, I'm pretty happy with the two coats.

One issue I have with this polish is that when I clean off the stickiness once I am finished, I often wipe away colour aswell, particularly from around the sides.  Maybe the UV isn't getting in there to set it?

Gelicious - Alcopop Rock

I have been very lax about my nails, in fact my husband's toe nails have have more polish on them then my fingernails this year.

This polish has been in my nails for 8 days now. 

It's holding up well with a bit of tip wear and one chip where I jammed my nail in a zip.

I'm hoping not to have to remove until next weekend - but I'm planning on using a bit of glitter over it during the week.

I see that Gelicious is selling a portable lamp,,, I'm thinking about getting one but I'll hold off because I know I don't NEED it!

Gelicious - electric melon

This was three coats of this amazing colour.  It isn't as opaque as I would like but this is my most favourite polish from Gelicious so far.

It is so hard to photograph but let me tell you that it is almost an dupe for the colour of my iPhone.

Once again, can't photograph it but you can see the top nail matches.

I do have a few chips already - I put it on maybe on Wednesday afternoon.

Gelicious - Dip in the Pool

Ooh so pretty.  This was my previous fortnight's colour, sorry I forgot to post earlier.

I did two coats and although you can sort of see the nail line in the photos in real life it wasn't so bad.

Really did remind me of sun glinting on the ocean.  

Update my current mani - I broke my thumb nail and so had to remove the polish off that nail.  I have a small chip on my index fingers but I have been building furniture this week. 

Gelicious - Thankful

'Thankful' is a very nice nude.  I used two coats but on my left I used the optional base coat & on the right I just applied the colour.  Both got the ultra glaze top coat.

I want to see if the base coat actually does anything and maybe it will make it easier to remove if I don't use it.

For the last two manicures my thumb nail  chipped on the outer side.  I made sure to give that edge more of a buff so hopefully that will work.

Gelicious - Strawberry Milkshake

In honour of the fact that I often get 'Milkshake' by Kelis stuck in my head* - this time I am wearing Strawberry Milkshake by Gelicious.

The colour is perfectly named but hard to capture with my phone.  I think this colour has gotten more notice then the other Gelicious colours I have tried.

In real life it isn't as pale.

Unfortunately I have found this one not as durable as I would have liked - this damage is 3 days in. 

As per usual it could be my application or it could also be that I've been extra hard on my nails.

I'm on holidays now so was really hoping that this would last the fortnight because I don't have access to all my equipment and polishes so for now Im just going to put a clear coat of normal polish and hope for the best.

*What does that say about me? My husband gets either Papa Loves Mambo or Agadoo which tells me just how camp he really is under all that male testosterone.

Peripera and Gelicious - Bubblegum yum

I realised today that I hadn't shared my latest haul and subsequent manicure!

A while back, I bought two polishes from Peripera and had told myself that I would buy more, but never got there. It was in my eBay watch list though!

A few weeks ago chocolatencappucino put her Peripera's on sale so I bought up. 

Ohhh, so pretty!

 

They came with samples... yep... I was pretty stoked.

I just love how cute Korean cosmetics are. I need to get me some more cute stuffs - so much of my eBay watch list is TonyMoly etc stuff.

And here is my mani.  

Base colour - Gelicious - Bubblegum Yum

Glitter - Peripera - 040 Sparkle Gold

Usual top coats for both layers. I put two layers on my index fingers.

I find that the Peripera polishes dry really quickly, and really aren't all that different from your 'normal' polishes quality wise.  This glitter polish stayed on my nails for a week.

 

This purple chipped before the fortnight was up, but that could have been the because of the extra nail polish on top,,, or because of my dodgy application. 

I think I've cracked how to remove the gel, I give my nails a quick once over with a file before I let them soak in the wraps for about 10 minutes. I then take them off one at a time and use an orange stick to push of the loose stuff. I then scuff the surface with the orange stick and then reapply the wraps with a little extra remover. This seems to get it off pretty easily.

But I am worried about damaging my nails - they are dried out after I clean everything off (obviously) and I already had some peeling before hand so I don't want it to get out of hand. Anyway, I'm giving my nails a break for a week and have just applied clear normal polish. But of course, I've already split one on the side. Doh!

Gelicious - Lavender Cupcake

So pretty! Made even more so a week into the mani with a bit of glitter. Although I'm not a fan on stars because their points catch on everything even though I put a layer of gel coat over it.

I've been trailing Gelicious soak and scratch wraps. They are pretty easy to use, probably prefer them to alfoil but the black printing rubs off into my fingers. Plus they are pretty expensive - lucky I bought them on sale.
