Gelicious - electric melon

This was three coats of this amazing colour.  It isn't as opaque as I would like but this is my most favourite polish from Gelicious so far.

It is so hard to photograph but let me tell you that it is almost an dupe for the colour of my iPhone.

Once again, can't photograph it but you can see the top nail matches.

I do have a few chips already - I put it on maybe on Wednesday afternoon.

What do you think?

Week 13

This week is a bit smexy don't you think?  Hot pink and black.

The start of the week was a little slow - I was getting over being sick but by the end of the week... We even left school and drove for 170km to watch a talk by Andrew Fuller.  It was fun and informative.

My first Beauty Box arrive this week, it was exciting but it didn't have much that would work for me but it was fun.  I especially love the box!

What else?

That's about it.

Week 12

Went all solar system and dotty and gold this week.

Not a lot of things checked off my weekly list but there is still more left of this weekend.

I did put together drawers while I caught up on Call the Midwife.  I cry during every single episode but the last one really did me in.

I haven't been much of a fashion diva lately but I thought this outfit was nice.

Nice things in my PO box!

Week 10

A little bit pretty was my theme for this week's spread.

Washi - eBay chiyogami designs
Korean stickers - eBay
Heart stickers - etsy harvard5f
Note paper - present from my in-law years ago
Floral sticker - etsy harvard5f
Dymo label tape - etsy harvard5f

Still trying to get through my to do list - they were left overs from the weeks before!

I so feel accomplished because Ihave finished office desk.  Here is a peek inside my new drawers.

This has been a very slow project
• making the sorters
• building the drawers
• buying new pen drawers
• sorting, sorting, sorting
• moving everthing to make it work

So that's it at the moment.  It still not perfect - the pink drawers need sorting and I'm not in love with the yellow hold-all.  But it's done.

My next job in this room is my overflowing shelves of work related books.

Money

This post is about money - it's not earth shattering change your life sort of post. I'm just sharing some money keeping ideas that I certainly didn't invent but I think are pretty cool.

http://www.stretchingabuckblog.com/
This was the version that I first saw.
I've linked the image back to it's original website.

The first one is the 52 weeks challenge that I'm sure everyone saw on Facebook at the beginning of the year.  If you haven't here is a post about it.  The idea is that you put money into a money box or other container every week.  I liked the idea of it, and when I looked at the numbers it seemed do-able. For week 1 you would put $1 away. For week 2 you would put $2 away and so forth until you are putting $52 in the kitty for week 52.  I never have that much cash on me that isn't already going to be spent on food or something in particular.

So then I thought that I could do it electronically.  I would open up an online bank account that didn't have a physical card attached (and didn't have fees etc), and then I would follow the challenge.

Well, I did open up my extra account, but then I thought about having to put in the different amounts...  so I opted to just put $10 in there each week.

Now - in the original challenge - you would end up with $1378.00 in your kitty.  By the time I will have finished I would only have $520.  So what could I do?  Did I want to put in $20 a week?

Instead I decided that I would award myself the extra $10 if I worked out a least three times a week.  I'm not kidding myself though, I know that some weeks I won't do that and I am OK with that.

I created my own checklist to track my deposits and called it my 'Weekly Put Away'.

The second way that I scrounge save up a little money is my favourite.  All you will need is a can of soft drink preferably with the wider opening.  Rinse out the can and start popping in $2 coins. One can will easily hold $600.

I like to pretty up my can with a bit of wrapping paper.

By the end of the year it's nice to be able to take your cans of money into the bank and get it counted.  Also nice because it's like bonus money just when you need it - Christmas presents paid for, maybe even something for yourself.

Ho ho ho.

Bonus - I've been sorting out my desk, putting in new drawers and getting rid of stuff in general. Squish is sitting in the cats' box - but it's a little worn and gets filled up with papers too easily.  So I've gotten rid of it.  I'll see how long it will take for the cats to start laying all over the keyboard again.

Drawing

This year I really wanted to get creative, but sometimes I haven't got the energy or time to think creatively.

So when Cassie Stephens announced the Artsty Book Club - and the book that they were starting with, which is: One Drawing A Day: A 6-Week Course Exploring Creativity with Illustration and Mixed Media (One A Day), I was like, I'm all over this!

So I bought the book on Kindle, and then I waited until I could get to civilization to buy some visual art diaries.  While on Amazon I also saw a few other 6-week courses that I liked and bought this as well:  One Zentangle A Day: A 6-Week Course in Creative Drawing for Relaxation, Inspiration, and Fun (One A Day)

I'm not going to share every drawing that I do, but I thought I would just show you a couple from the last two days:

And this is my Drawing a Day effort for today:

I think I am going to struggle with some of the Drawing a Day themes simply because of where I live - I don't like anywhere near a forest or crowds of people... I'm already using Google images and Pinterest for my sources. I'll make a Pinterest board.

The other thing is that it asks for pens and things that I just don't have so I'm winging it on the materials. But still, I like it so far.

Organiser - week 9

This week was all about camp so it's pretty empty.

Washi tape - chiyogami designs on eBay
Korean stickers - eBay
Heart stickers - Harvard5f on etsy
Korean girl stickers - marroncat on eBay

I have also started organising my stickers into a display folder.  I've used double sided tape to stick the sheets into paper and then slotted it into the slips

Camp

I have a love hate relationship with school camp.  There is so much work leading up to it - planning for my classes while I am away - paperwork and letters - phone calls etc

And then when you are on camp it's 24hrs of care.  When you are having a well deserved hot shower and someone else's kids is yelling through the door for permission to whatever it is they want you really start to question why.  Also in the middle of the night you deal with a sleep walker.  Also when you are waiting in a dark hallway to make sure everyone has gone to sleep. Also when home sickness sets in...

But there are good things.  Like teaching kids that they can prepare a meal. Or how to wash up - using hot soapy water, who would have thought - dishwashers have a lot to answer for.  Seeing kids do something they were scared of, like climb and then jump off a 10m pole.

I'm glad it's over for another year and I'm back at comfortable home, but I am proud of myself again this year.  I climbed up a huge pole and then rode the flying fox back down. My muscles are still complaining but that's okay.

I don't have a lot if photos on then phone that doesn't include kids' faces so these will have to do.

The stupid stairs we climbed up and down a couple of times a day.

The bark that you land in which gives you  splinters.

The 5:30am start as we drove away from home to arrive 7 or so hours later at camp.

At least I got to go shopping on the last day!
