Just a quick post while I'm getting ready for our trip tomorrow.
I wore this last night to dinner with friends and am wearing it again for a little girl's birthday party and next for tonight's dinner out. The little girl and her mum share their birthday which is pretty cute.
Last night was Asian food - my friend is Chinese and he did an awesome job - helps that he and his wife are also foodies.
Tonight is just a traditional pub meal - I think I'll have crumbed steak with mushroom sauce, the best chips in town and veggies.
Anyway - my outfit. I basically decided that I would wear some basic plain clothing and let the necklace shine which it does literally as well.
I love it - it's so eye catching and different.
Top - Big W
Jeans - Autograph
Shoes - Rubi (silver)
Necklace - Tatty Devine (gold)
I was starting to get worried when the necklace hadn't arrived in 3 weeks so when I checked my PO Box on Friday, I was holding my breath hoping to see a parcel card. I almost did a little dance when it was there.
We are going to the big city of Townsville for the week so I'm hoping to wear it out and about.

Ahh the holidays
Love it.
I get to have a laze in bed with a cat while I catch up on my feedly.
I get to workout and not worry that I will be too sore tomorrow. This holiday I'm challenging myself with Jillian Michaels (nothing new there) with her Banish Fat Boost Metabolism. I am picking and choosing which segments though - no star jumps or floor work for me this holidays.
I got to see a friend who was home for the holidays, yesterday for brunch - BLT foccicia - yum.
I get to play with recipes. I have my vegies for tonight in the slow cooker and I just made a very small batch of laraballs. I kept seeing them and their bar equivalent on Pinterest so I thought I would give it a shot.
Laraballs
1/2 cup of cashews (salted because that's what I had),
1/2 cup of dates,
30gm dark chocolate
Food process those suckers. Add a small splash of water to soften it a little if needed. Roll them up. Makes 8 3cm balls.
Yum! I want to try apricots and pineapple as a fruit base next and use coconut.
It's not been all fun and games around here though - I did a little bit of planning for my next term of school and I worked on my ever growing pile of (clean) washing.
What's next? I think I might do a little sewing.

Hummingbird peplum top 2 (&3)
I'm not even going to bother showing you my first attempt. The back looked just awful. I took it out two sizes and tried again. Still looks bloody awful. Altered the back heaps more - still a mess.
I'm putting this in the too hard basket.
It's not a shape that's working for me without a lot more alterations. It's not fun making alterations to what should be simple sew.

Putting skirts on hold - although I only need to hem one if them to call it finished.
Tracing and cutting out - I'm going to make a toile with some crappy fabric.

Weekend
- early breakfast at the bakery
- showed my redneck tendencies by spending half a day at the drag races. A friend from work bought my old car to race - see 3rd pic.
- had a beef and gravy roll and a cherry slushy. I now must buy some syrup flavours for myself.
- rang my mum for her Birthday. She will get her present(s) when I see her in person on the holidays.
- pizza for dinner at friends while watching Rocky Horror and something else.
- big sleep in on Sunday morning.
- lamb burger brunch at the centre.
- delivered some big butt pants for a baby boy.
- worked even though this is the last week of school for the term.
- watched Harry Potter 1 & 2 while I crocheted and hand sewed.
- in bed early to blog and read a novel.
And I didn't think I had done much this weekend!
The last picture is of my jeans, I think. The photos I take when I think my phone is off.

Aussie Curves - Feminine
Pretty pretty. I bought this skirt at Christmas holidays but haven't worn it yet. Basically, it's too pretty, and no top seemed to work with it.
Yesterday I pulled out any top that I thought might work and auditioned them with the skirt. I ended up with a blue cami and a mint cardi.
skirt - Target
cami - Rockmans
cardi - Target
shoes - Betts
necklace - a random stall on the Gold Coast
We then went to a friend's house were we ate ribs and I dropped a bit of meat and ended up with an oily stain on the front of my skirt. Of course.
These photos have made the skirt a little bluer then it really is.

Wearing Colour - Violet
As promised, Violet. This is the last photo for my wearing colour week.
My phone seems to have gotten out of bed on the wrong side this morning - it's refusing to take any more photos and really I don't want to play around with it.
This week was fun and so many people took notice. That's not why I did it of course but compliments are nice.

Wearing Colour - Yellow
Yellow - it's the one colour I just don't wear. I'm trying hard this year because I do like neon and lemon yellow.
I saw these pants at Rockmans, tried them on not thinking that they would fit - they did. I would call these a bright mustard - there is a bit of green there not helped with my photography - but everyone that said something about them today said that they were yellow.
In fact, quite a lot of people said something about my outfit today - good things. Although a few kids commented on the fact that I was wearing yellow instead of green - seeing as though I am in the green sports team at school.
Black denim jacket - Rockmans - this one is a few years old
Yellow 3/4s - Rockmans - new
Top - Rockmans - new, plus I got the blue version as well
Pink cardigan - Big W
Necklace - Ebay
Watch - Big W
Shoes - Rubi - I do own shoes that are not from Rubi I promise.
Before 10 am.

Up to about 2pm.
Now.
Most of my students are now onto the fact that I am wearing different colours this week.
They know it's green tomorrow - can I handle the pressure of all the expectations?

Aussie Curves - Spike
Today is also my red day in my wearing colours challenge. Yesterday I wore violet but because it was such a long day I didn't get any photos - I'll have to recreate on the weekend.
I started off this morning wearing 4 layers. Black cami, red top, grey cardi and the dotted jacket. By the end of the day I was down to two - and I only needed to wear the cami prevent my students from seeing my boob slot.
Cami - Target
Red top - Big W
Cardi - Big W (not seen because I actually left it on the back of my chair at work)
Jacket - Autograph
Pants - Autograph
Shoes - Rubi
Did you see the cat photo-bomb?
This outfit was all about the accessories - all from Big W.
The following photo shows you that I have a problem.
See them? They are my back up shoes.
I love these shoes so much - that I bought spares that live in a cupboard - just - in - case.
I do this all the time.
NB: they have spikes on them.
Part of me really wanted to dress up like Spike Thompson from Press Gang for this week's challenge - considering he was one of my favourite TV crushes at the time. I think I will just re-watch the series again on the long weekend while I do some sewing.

Wearing Colour - Blue
As I walked to my first class of the day a student exclaimed, 'Miss, you're wearing my colour! Blue!'
I'm glad she verified which colour because although it's blue day - I am wearing a fair bit of yellow and green too.
Green Cardigan - Rockmans
Blue top - Reebok
Yellow Camisole - Target
Jeans - Autograph
Shoes - Rubi
Watch - Big W
This was a shot from the first time I wore this top - I've included it just to show the band and the print. This top gets so many compliments.
Also tried on someone else's new glasses - I really like this shape. Then I realised that they were Ray Bands, and I was like - yep, that's why. I can't wait to get some new frames.
Oh yeah, that's the wall behind my desk at work. See those white baskets? I have one for each subject that I teach. Planning and everything else that I need to teach that class for the week goes in there, so all I have to do it grab the correct basket each lesson.
Can you see that thing on the top shelf of the book case? That's my birthday crown. Anyone in my form class that has a birthday during the school week has to wear it for the day.

The Pretties
Ohhh, we went to a friend's house for a BBQ last night. I got to hold parts of his latest project - he's a jeweler. See those rubies! The blue topaz stones!
Working on my blanket. It's going nicely.
Playing with wardrobe planning. I made my own stencil by laminating a photo of me that I had printed out. I then cut around myself to make a fashion template. I loved teaching fashion illustration whenever I taught fashion.

Wearing Colour - Orange
Orange and pink are a great match, well I think so.
I was planning on wearing stripes but swapped it with a new top I bought this week - love me some dots. The cardi is also new.
When we were coming home from camp we spend an hour and a half in Emerald shopping. Speed shopping!
Maxi skirt - Millers
T-shirt - Big W - navy with white spots
Cardigan - Big W
Necklace - Millers
Shoes - Rubi

Wearing Colour
I love colour. Certainly not afraid to mix it up. Coral and Maroon together. Blue and green together. Purple and pink together.
I read a few weeks ago an online article about mixing up your wardrobe - and one suggestion by some fashion author is to wear one colour of the rainbow each day.
I don't think that it would be too much of an issue.
I think my colour holes are orange and indigo, but hold the phone - whoa the phone just started ringing when I typed that - I think I'm wearing an indigo top right now. And I do have a pair of 'bright orange' jeggings and a coral maxi skirt.
So okay, I think I'm set.
Wearing colour for the next 7 days!!!
P.S.
I bought myself a Tatty Devine dinosaur necklace today. The giant black dinos were all sold out, so I went with the giant gold one instead. As hubby said, if I wear it against a dark/black top or dress it wouldn't stand out - and thus a waste of $220 Aus.
I was almost shaking when I pressed the add to cart button.
There are some knock off on eBay that tempted me, but seriously I wouldn't be able to wear it without feeling guilty - plus they aren't a HUGE!
